his drawings are new...with every new material...illusionistic and perspective objects

His best known motifs are face and sun as round elements. The new desire for decorative elements in fashion and the comeback of prints have inspired Wolford to use a Fornasetti motif for an entire product line. Wolford's innovative knitting technology enables Fornasetti motifs to be knitted in a precise and three-dimensional way. Each design belonging to the Fornasetti fashion theme is initially drawn and programmed on the computer, and it is then knitted meticulously stitch by stitch. Either as an eye catcher set centrally on the bust or as a small all-over motif on top, sweater, tights or knee-highs. The two-tone version in combination with black enables the motif featuring a face broken by lines to appear even more vivid. The five Fornasetti products come in six different colour combinations and will be available to shops from February 2001. Photos by Francis Giacobetti for Wolford.
