Ira Schneider Mysteries in Reality Hannah Höch Prize 2006 4 Nov – 17 Dec 2006 Neuer Berliner Kunstverein www.nbk.org

"....The intent of the collectives was a subversive response to the whole media environment of the day. Their relationship to the art world of 1969 was ambivalent at best. The art world audience was both elite and statistically minute, not the audience of the young and discontented that they wished to engage. Ira Schneider played an important role in these efforts as a member of Raindance and as one of the co-originators of the video journal, Radical Software. A certain anti-authoritarian, even radical, attitude continues to inform his work. ....... ...... ........
Since that time personal computers, digitalization, the Internet and the world it has opened, have, for some, created a larger place to stand, a place from which to continue to exert leverage on the world order of today.

This was our dream of forty years ago. And among many of us from that time the hope, and conviction, yet exists that our project is still ongoing, and that it will be furthered by the creative and bold young people implementing new media as they arise." Davidson Gigliotti, Early Videoworks by Ira Schneider and the Magazine Radical Software more culture >>>
