Jewelry and fashion seen at the preview of the upcoming 'artwalk18' tour through the 18th district of Vienna

On 28 and 29 April, artists, designers, crafts people are opening their ateliers, workshops or presents their products at various destinations through the 18th district (named 'Währing', the origin or meaning of the name is uncertain) of Vienna on occasion of this year's 'Kunst.Fest.Währing 2018' (28 April - 20 May 2018, the programme includes until 20 May literature, theatre and music). Artwalk18 is the first of the Kunst.Fest.Währing 2018 event series which throws light on Viennese culture producers who are profiling - similar to 'visiting cards', the (self-)image of Austria's capital city.

The map of the artwalk18 programme at art18.at shows 45 location points for the navigation through the district. The tour starts in the northwest with art exhibitions, ceramics, and reaches soon the first jewelry exhibition at Werkstatt Schmuckedinge. The next jewelry destination on the map is the atelier of Fritz Maierhofer who combines art and the crafts of jewelry making.

The jewelry and wall-objects by internationally working Fritz Maierhofer are exhibited at the artist's atelier at Gentzgasse 103. Maierhofer's art-jewelry was already acquired by museums and collections like Victoria and Albert Museum London, Museum of Applied Arts Vienna, or Jewellery Museum Pforzheim (source: curriculum).

Textile technology, shoe design can also be found at the map as well as fashion design such as the presentation of products by designer Berit Steffin who studied at the classes of Karl Lagerfeld, Jil Sander and Jean Charles de Castelbajac at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Berit Steffin works locally as well as internationally in fashion and textile design; at her biography, labels like Issey Miyake, Elie Saab or Carolina Herrera are mentioned.
