FIAT 500C
spring 2009

The Italian Style of city-car driving

Fiat presents the newest variation - a 'cabriolet' - of the authentic vintage designed Fiat 500, the Fiat 500C, on occassion of the Geneva Motorshow salon-auto.ch from 5th to 15th March 2009.

The Fiat 500 was first launched in 1957. In Nov 2007 the new vintage design with original shades in a contemporary, edgy look, convinced the European motoring journalists: the car was elected as the “Car of the Year 2008". Check out more about the design process confashion.com/fw2007/fiat12-2007.htm, or the lovely video below about the introduction in 1957.

The Fiat 500C - C like cabriolet - is for the ones who love freedom. The new designed car with soft top (available in the colors ivory, red and black) pays homage to the open-top 1957 model.

The soft top can be matched with several bodywork color schemes, two of which have been conceived specifically for the new car, i.e. a brilliant Pearl Red and a special Warm Grey typical of sports supercars.

Standard features include stubborn reliability and environmental friendliness. Moreover, as proof of Fiat Automobiles commitment to ecology and sustainable mobility, the new 500C incorporates the innovative “Start&Stop” system, a device controlling momentary engine shutdown and subsequent reigniting. To this end, at every stop when shifting to neutral and releasing the clutch, the engine is switched off and then restarted simply by selecting a gear.

The car is created by the Fiat Styling Center. Fiat calls the 500C an “open source” design as it is implying the addition of new functions to a highly successful existing product.

The Fiat 500C will be available in Europe in spring 2009. Check out details about the new Fiat 500C on fiat500.com.
