Eco-brand's music charity and ethical t-shirt

In early December 2012, award winning British eco-brand Rapanui unveiled the music video for the Christmas charity single 'The Present of Life' and the art work of the ethical (and windpowered, organic) t-shirt 'Badger'. Both, music and t-shirt are dedicated to the collection of money for 'The Badger Trust' which helps to protect these animals from the planned killing in 2013 which will - according to scientific studies, not solve the problem of farmers.

Nature documentarist Sir David Attenborough, whose voice is featured in the music video, says: "The government commissioned a scientific study into culling eleven thousand badgers. And the results, of that independent scientific study, were that culling is not a viable policy option."

The t-shirt's screen print shows a badger with cap and moustache in front of the British flag (Union Jack) and the writing 'Your badgers need YOU' in call-up style. The profits of the purchase of the ethical t-shirts go to The Badger Trust. Rapanui states: "This organic tee is our tribute to their work, giving protected species a voice."

For the music video of the Christmas charity single, documentary footage by Wildlife Aid and The Badgers Trust are mixed with the voice of documentary filmmaker Sir David Attenborough and new material such as music video scenes where British wildlife personality Chris Packham (author, photographer,...) appears.

Rapanui's co-founder Martin Drake-Knight says: "At Rapanui science and sustainability is at the core of what we do. And sustainability is about science, not emotion. The badger cull is another example of the need for science to lead the way. This Christmas we decided to lend help and in doing so, make the issue more accessible for young people."
