Art that crosses borders - geographical borders and the borders of the presentation system

In February 2013, Donna Karan New York announced the launch of the DKNY Art Summer edition with signature urban art illustrations by Keith Haring for March 2013.

With the limited women's fragrance edition, Donna Karan pays homage to the city of New York and the life and style of Keith Haring (1958–1990) who inspired the American designer since she has seen his art for the first time at the subway in New York. Both, New York and wearable, urban art are core themes of DKNY fashion and beauty collections.

In the 1980s, Keith Haring's signature energetic figures which represent living in the vibrating city New York, crossed the borders - the geographical and the borders of art presentations. Keith Haring was inspired by graffiti, but used black paper and white chalk for his subway-drawings. Already in the 1980s, his work was exhibited in classical art spaces like galleries or museums worldwide as well as in public space, on Swatch watches, or as advertising for Absolut Vodka; and now in 2013, Keith Haring's drawings are on view on the fragrance bottle and campaign for DKNY Art Summer.
