Yesterday on 13 April, Mazda invited to the presentation of two non-automotive art-design-products under the title 'Mazda Design: The Car as Art' at the pre-opening of Milan Design Week. On stage, the brand's latest cars: the iconic two-seater sports car in the new version MX-5, and the compact SUV Mazda CX-3. The art-design-products reflect the style of the new cars: the MX-5 was the inspiration source for a track racer bicycle and the comfortable CX-3 influenced the creation of a sofa. Both designs are derived from the dynamic power 'KODO' concept which was developed from the study of the muscle play of a wild animal on its prey.

The racing touch of the MX-5 is incorporated into the form of the track racer 'Bike by KODO concept' with details such as the saddle upholstering which shows the same red thread and stitch design as the sports car. The 'Sofa by KODO concept' was created by Mazda designers in collaboration with Italian furniture makers. The sofa was presented together with a matching table made of wood with metallic trims and glass top.

The press presentation of 'Mazda Design: The Car as Art' can be watched in a short video. Milan Design Week opened today for the public.
