Austria Insight: Karin Sawetz' selection of museum exhibitions which open (again) next week in early May in Lower Austria and Vienna

Yesterday, the government announced the opening of stores, services like hair and beauty salons, or museums from next week, Monday 3rd May. It's not said that all locations will open on 3rd May for customers or visitors. Fashion.at's Karin Sawetz looked through the museum landscape for the scheduled opening dates of already recommended exhibitions.

Two of the most beautiful locations nearby Vienna, Schloss Hof and Schloss Niederweiden open on 6 May again (schlosshof.at/en/visitors-information/opening-times). Last year, Fashion.at published an article about the Baroque garden architecture and exhibition 'Sisi'. It's better to plan several hours for the visit of the two locations which can be accessed with one ticket. Schloss Hof's garden with seven terraces was reconstructed with the help of views once captured by painter Canaletto in the mid-18th century. Following article provides garden views and more information: "19th century pink gym-trousers by Empress Sisi and Baroque entertainment garden architecture seen at Prince Eugen's palaces Schloss Niederweiden and Schloss Hof in Lower Austria".

Earlier open again but further away from Vienna is the next exhibition located at the Middle Ages, Renaissance castle Schallaburg where visitor can enjoy a smaller but very lovely Renaissance garden. From 3rd May, the 'Wanderlust' show invites visitors to an exploration of the world and traveling to far away countries from various perspectives. Article "'Wanderlust' exhibition at the Schallaburg in Lower Austria provides a holistic view on the exploration of the world with examples of positive and negative impacts of traveling".

From Tuesday 4th May, the exhibition 'Beyond Bambi. Felix Salten and the discovery of Viennese Modernism' can be visited again at Wien Museum MUSA. The curators researched the author's work at the estate in the Wienbibliothek im Rathaus (city hall) for new views on the cultural life in Vienna in the years from 1890 until 1939. Article "Museum of the City of Vienna 'Wien Museum' presents author of 'Bambi, a Life in the Woods' Felix Salten and his cultural life in Vienna".

The last exhibition tip concerns a premiere: 'Women Artists of the Wiener Werkstätte' at the MAK - Museum of Applied Arts can be visited for the first time on 5th May after the opening was postponed since last year several times (article). At mak.at/womenartistsoftheww (in English) or mak.at/frauenderww (in Deutsch), the introduction into the exhibition is published with accompanying audio guide in the respective language.
