View on Vienna from dog owner perspective, inclusively a dog friendly hotel offer seen at Max Brown

Recently, since the lockdown ended and tourists can be welcomed again by Austrian hotels, the Viennese destination of the Max Brown hotels (two in Amsterdam, one in Berlin and Düsseldorf), the 'Max Brown 7th District' which is located in a region of the city known for its open minded, creative scene, presented the current offer with 25% off price and the call for dog owners to bring their pet. The special invitation has nothing to do with the fact that Vienna is a dog friendly city and has a wide range of spaces where the animals can run freely. Dogs can be brought to every Max Brown hotel in the cities mentioned above.

To provide a short insight into dog-related circumstances and opportunities in Vienna: According to the official statistics at wien.gv.at/statistik/kultur-sport/hunde/ (fast checked today), around 55,100 dogs are currently registered in Vienna; calculated on the number of inhabitants of the city, for every 33 Viennese there is one dog. More than 195 dog areas with in sum over 1 million square meters are available throughout the city. There are a few rules which center around the dog's behaviour especially concerning keeping distance to people and causing no damage to property. Which means, dogs must be held on a leash or wear a muzzle except in dog zones or dog running areas. Some breeds of dogs have to wear a muzzle, even when on leash. In crowded places, every dog wears a muzzle. In Vienna, dog waste has to be removed by the dog owner.

At maxbrownhotels.com/7th-district-vienna/bring-your-dog/, some hotel rules are published such as that "Dogs have to be kept on the leash when in the hotel or on the property unless in your guest room" and the information about the dog-related rate for cleaning the room.

The map below is a practical guide through the city. Several parks have zones which are explicitly forbidden for dogs (red symbol); the green symbol stands for dog zones or areas where dogs can run freely without leash and without muzzle (except some breeds).
