Latest AI activities of the Austrian tourism industry: Vienna advertises with UnArtificial Art, Carinthia implemented the AI Concierge as personal service

The Austrian tourism industry's latest campaigns and services, which take advantage of AI for image generation and conversation, premiered this month. WienTourismus, the Vienna Tourism Board, has announced the launch of its 'UnArtificial Art' campaign in North America to promote the unique art treasures of Vienna. The goal of the campaign is to encourage visitors to explore Vienna. From 1 to 30 May, the campaign will be presented digitally in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Toronto, in addition to the placement of large-format images in public spaces in New York, Chicago and Washington D.C. In 2023, the City of Vienna will provide a special budget of more than one million euros to enable WienTourismus to intensify its efforts in North America.

The AI-created campaign motifs are a mix of famous Viennese Modernist paintings by Gustav Klimt or Egon Schiele, The Tower of Babel by Pieter Bruegel or architecture like the Secession building with popular Internet cat content. The 'UnArtificial Art'-sujets are published together with a video in which art expert Markus Hübl talks about the original artworks and the interpretations of the AI wien.info/en/unartificialart.

Resume: The better known an artist, artwork, or architecture is, the better the AI image generators can replicate a style.

Kärnten Werbung, the advertising agency of Austria's southernmost state, Carinthia, launched the KI Concierge service on the official Carinthian tourism website kaernten.at on 10 May. (KI stands for AI.) The KI Concierge guest service pulls information from more than 1,500 pages of the website to answer questions about vacation planning, said Klaus Ehrenbrandtner, managing director of Kärnten Werbung, introducing the new support tool.

Fashion.at did a quick test and asked several questions in German about biking on lakes in Carinthia and received detailed information about where to rent a bike or how much it costs to rent a bike at a specific lake. When Fashion.at asked the concierge "Can you answer in English?", it answered "Yes, I can answer in English. However, I would like to clarify that my sources are in German and may require translation."
Fashion.at continued the conversation in English: "Which lake in Carinthia can be surrounded by bike?"
The concierge responded with information about popular bike routes and lakes, with links to pages on Kaernten.at where the content was generated and where more details can be found: "There are several lakes in Carinthia that can be surrounded by bike, but one of the most popular is the Wörthersee. The Wörthersee is located near Töschling and offers public access to several lake spots. The lake is part of the Kärnten Seen-Schleife, a 400-kilometer bike tour that leads through the 20 most beautiful lakes in Carinthia…."

The KI Concierge is a practical search tool through the content of the extensive kaernten.at website.

Resume: The better maintained the content on the pages of a service website, the better the responses from an AI chatbot.
