Salzburg Insight: Fashion school 'Modeschule Hallein' hosts the event 'Konsumdialoge: Textilien' and the award ceremony of the 'Vivienne' prize for ecological textiles

The program schedule of the upcoming Austrian Consumer Dialogues: Textiles, the 'Konsumdialoge: Textilien' event was presented today with a press release containing further details. The three-day event will take place from 29 June to 1 July with more than 50 experts, activists, business people, and representatives from politics and civil society at the fashion school 'Modeschule Hallein' in Salzburg. A special focus of the conference will be the insights of insiders from Chile, Romania, and Cambodia into the production, trade, and disposal of clothing. It's announced that the entire life cycle of textiles will be presented with never-before-seen data and facts.
The second pillar of the conference in Hallein is the discussion of strategies for a better future, in particular resource-saving production methods that have already been implemented. The program includes controversial discussions such as the sustainability of domestic wool and animal welfare, an expert talk on the limits of sustainable production and a panel discussion on the credibility of quality labels.

On the second day of the 'Konsumdialoge: Textilien'-days on 30 June, the first ever 'Vivienne' awards for ecological textiles will be handed out to the winners by Federal Minister for Climate Action Leonore Gewessler. The prize is named after Vivienne Westwood, who has been a pioneer in promoting sustainability and climate protection in the fashion world. The award goes to Austrian design labels or projects with sustainable production in Austria and honors fashion designers and textile companies that are committed to environmentally friendly practices. The winner of the main prize - the product must be scalable and available to a wider market - is selected by the jury and receives 5,000 euros. The winner of the audience award, worth 2,500 euros, is selected by online voting. It honors the sustainability project of a small size business. Among the nominees for the audience award are well-known Austrian design labels with a focus on ecological production, such as 'Wiener Konfektion' or 'km/a'.
