30 July 2024
In fashion, summer is almost over. Press information for the next two seasons, autumn and winter, is being spread more and more every day, including the first trends for Christmas. The save-the-dates sent out before the traditional vacation month of July are now followed by invitations, in some cases with a note to secure one of the limited spots by a certain deadline. First come, first served. July isn't over yet and September will soon be fully booked with interesting events in the Fashion.at calendar: Vienna Fashion Week September 9-14, Parallel Vienna September 11-15, Vienna Contemporary September 12-15, Vienna City Gallery Walk September 25-28,... In no other month does a spontaneous invitation to an event have less chance of being accepted than in September. And then there are the recommendations for tasks that can't be postponed, such as the preparation of plants in the garden and on the balcony. Salon Verde, the urban concept stores of one of the largest garden centers in Austria, Bellaflora, with a special focus on plants for the home, balconies, gardens, home accessories and services such as repotting service and eco-friendly transportation, provided some tips such as moving houseplants indoors when temperatures drop below +15°C or reducing watering when daylight hours decrease. If you are planning to decorate your balcony in the autumn until the first frost, Salon Verde recommends late-blooming plants such as asters, chrysanthemums, heather or veronica, etc. Another tip concerns hardy plants that need to be gradually prepared for winter. According to Salon Verde, with the right precautions and care, many plants can overwinter on the balcony and provide a safe haven for insects. A sheltered place on the wall of the house and protection from the cold with jute, sheep's wool mats or a garden or winter fleece is ideal. Well, it's obvious that not all tips for plants can be generalized. Each type of plant has its own needs. The best advice is to try to find information about the plant species and when and what to do before it gets colder outside - or to play it safe and ask a gardener. In the years since 2022, Salon Verde has not only expanded the number of stores to three in Vienna, it has also focused on natural cosmetics with several labels from Austria. For example, the deodorant creams called Nasenfreude' (nose-joy) by the women-owned Viennese company Marlie + Fengg. The Nasenfreude creams are packaged in a compostable jar that can be disposed of in organic waste. It's going to be cooler in September. But with all these events and work, a good deodorant is not a bad idea. Images: The pictures show views at the 'Erdiges Eck', the 'earthy corner' of the Salon Verde stores in Vienna. Repotting is one of the topics of the latest autumn tips by the concept store. At the earthy corner customers can repot their plants by themselves or fill up with just as much fresh soil or fertilizer as needed or to use the shop's service for planting and repotting. According to the latest press release, care tips are included free of charge. Photos: © Salon Verde. |
