First views of Jason Wu's second collection for Fila

The collaboration between the Taiwanese-Canadian in New York-based designer Jason Wu and the Italian in South Korea headquartered sportswear brand Fila was launched last year with the presentation of the Spring/Summer 2016 collection (video embedded below). Now, the first views of the second Fila collection by Jason Wu were released. The designs of the Fall/Winter 2016 collection of women's and men's wear center around stripes - at some creations they appear like reflections upon the Fila logo, its colors (blue, red, white) and the sportswear brand's classical style; at several other items, the stripes are additionally inspired by the lines on the tennis court such as on view at the tennis dress on this page (right).

fig.: Red dress with pleated skirt part and blue and white stripes; 'Fila x Jason Wu' Fall/Winter 2016. The women's collection consists of four tennis dresses, two tops, a skort, and a pant; available in selected stores in Hong Kong and at www.fila.com.hk from fall. The tennis dress' irregular stripes at the shoulder and across the waist are reminiscent of lines on tennis courts. Jason Wu took inspiration from the Fila archives and re-imagined with geometrical patterns and cuts (like the pleated skirt detail) the brand's classical fashion style spanning over decades from the 1960s up to nowadays.

Jason Wu became internationally known as first designer ever who was chosen by a US First Lady two times for two inaugurations; Michelle Obama wore fashion by Jason Wu at the inaugurations in 2009 and 2013. Since 2013, Jason Wu is Artistic Director of Hugo Boss' BOSS Womenswear ready-to-wear and accessory lines. Jason Wu is also known as outfitter of the stars; recently, Jason Wu shared an image of Diane Kruger in one of the label's dresses.
