German fashion designer Dawid Tomaszewski and Austrian home textiles label Betten Reiter presented new collection at a press conference in Vienna

Today, the new home collection 'Dawid Tomaszewski by Reiter' was presented at the Betten Reiter store at Mariahilfer Strasse 120 in Vienna. The German, in Poland (Danzig) born, in Berlin based designer Dawid Tomaszewski and Peter Hildebrand, CEO of the Austrian home textiles brand Betten Reiter introduced into the collection which pays tribute to the 100th anniversary of Bauhaus; the art school was founded 1919 by architect Walter Gropius in Weimar. Reiter continues with the collection of bed linen in three print versions - Iconic, Flower, Pop Art, covers for cushions and chairs, knit plaids and bath robes in designs by Dawid Tomaszewski the collaboration with fashion creators. Last year, Reiter worked successfully with Austrian designer Lena Hoschek.

Fashion.at took the chance and spoke with Dawid Tomaszewski about the inspiration behind the geometrical patterns which count to the signature dessins in his fashion collections (images of SS2020 published by Vogue). The patterns are derived from the so-called 'Wiener Geflecht' (Viennese braid) of a chair designed in the 1920s by Bauhaus architect and furniture designer Marcel Breuer. Dawid Tomaszewski once found the chair at the attic of his mother's house and drives since then inspirations for new interpretations of the honeycomb-like pattern. For Reiter, the designer created the purist graphical dessin 'Iconic' (image right above shows the designer sitting on a chair with 'Iconic' print cover). This print is the heart of the collection.

The print 'Flower' (on view in the first row right) was created at the atelier of Dawid Tomaszewski and is a compilation of flowers from various seasons and places - one floral illustration in lilac is inspired by a flower placed at a window of the designer's atelier.

The print 'Pop Art' (on view at the last image) is the most colorful of the collection.

For the first time ever, Reiter produced in a collaboration clothing pieces. The image shows the bath robes for women and men. The home collection 'Dawid Tomaszewski by Reiter' (limited edition) can be shopped in stores and online since today.
