Jewelry exhibition 'Uncharted Territories' at the Viennese atelier 'Stoss Im Himmel' explores the individuality of human nature and the physics of planetary systems

Yesterday, Fashion.at visited the opening of the exhibition 'Uncharted Territories' at the atelier 'Stoss Im Himmel' in Vienna and looked closer at the work of four of the eight displayed artists.

fig. below: Eva Tesarik's jewelry collection inspired by the moon, the ocean and Venice shows mother of pearl 'moonlight' creations, shells with stone crust linked on a chain for a necklace or old wood of a tray found by the artist once in Venice and now incorporated into a pendant of a necklace. The items are not explicitly created for the exhibition 'Uncharted Territories' but underline well the general messages of the jewelry maker group: The individuality of human nature and the interplay with the physics of planetary systems. The name 'Stoss Im Himmel' references an old Viennese legend and could be translated as 'Kick to the Sky' or 'Punch to Heaven'. The atelier's exhibition invites to explore unknown territories and the jewelry worlds of eight artists.

fig. below: The cosmos and planets, earth and the power of nature, especially volcanic landscapes respectively the change of the earth's surface caused by eruptions from its inner core, is also theme at the collection by Michelle Kraemer who develops surprisingly light jewelry items from balsa wood in combination with metal.

fig. below: 'Alles wird gut' (Everything is going to be good) is written with metal laces at the art work by Heike Wanner. The silver, gold and pearl compositions of the 'Alles wird gut'-series remind orbits; the course of planets is visualized in silver or gold, the star is represented by a pearl. The artist was inspired by classical jewelry for every day, the style of the 1970s and early 20th century Wiener Werkstätte for her exploration of the cosmic for easy to wear elegant jewelry.

fig. below: The 'Bubble' collection is inspired by moments of celebration when sparkling wine is enjoyed with others. The Bubble items from the jewelry line 'Lena Kris' by Eligius 2016 award winning artist Lena Grabher are produced in limited edition. For the presentation at the exhibition 'Uncharted Territories', the Lena Kris jewelry is arranged in and around glasses filled with sparkling water.
