Textile trends for Fall/Winter 2020/21 presented by ISPO together with award winning best products in categories like in the growing sector 'Street Sports'

The ISPO Textrends for 2020/21 were already presented at ISPO Beijing, China in January and will be showcased at the upcoming edition of ISPO from 3 to 6 February in Munich, Germany. Recently, ISPO published the press release concerning the award winners of the Textrends 2020/21 for sports and outdoor clothing at ispo.com (English / German) with statement by 'bluesign' label (signs sustainable products, manufactured after environmentally friendly criteria) CEO and jury member Jill Dumain, who was impressed by the amount of entries and the hopefully positive impact on the industry with regard to innovation, performance and environment. 'Responsibility' is a word which matches also with the new fashion of the industry and consumers in general to think about new ways of production and topics like waste. Jury member Giusy Bettoni (founder and CEO of C.L.A.S.S. - Creativity Lifestyle and Sustainable Synergy), whose work centers around the creation of values, is cited at the press release "I was really encouraged to see the integration of 'responsible' into everything that is innovative and creative driven. I feel really proud, that generally speaking, this value has been integrated into the best things today."

Alongside to production and consumption trends, especially following three fabric-related trends are pointed out by the jury: The 'Sensational Touch' trend refers the importance of the haptic experience and the improved quality of recycled synthetics in this category, the trend 'Protective Elements' is mentioned in relation to performance, sports and outdoor (which merged through the last years increasingly with classical urban streetwear), and the third trend 'Optical Illusions' concerns the 3D-structure of materials.

Street Sports is a growing market favored by the trend of walking, cycling on the various terrains of metropolitan cities. Signature for products in this category are smart fabrics for urban outdoor with focus on changing weather conditions and situations (office, cycling, coffee bar,...). Photo: © Matthias Robl.
