Supermarket chain Lidl will release the company's branded cult sneakers in limited edition in selected stores in Austria

The online search after 'Lidl Sneakers' shows several articles published by German and Austrian media about the supermarket chain's sports shoes. The Lidl Sneakers are described as a phenomenon in shoe and retail marketing in Germany. Due to the very affordable price of the discounter, the publications report about the selling out in short time. The articles tell an almost unbelievable genealogy of the cult around the sneakers starting with an April Fool's joke. The summary of the randomly found reports by daily news publications and special interest magazines is: The sneakers were sold out so fast that the branded footwear in Lidl's signature logo colors blue-red-yellow reached high prices in online auctions.

Today, Lidl Austria sent the information that the sneakers will be available in limited edition from 20 August in selected supermarkets in Austria. The price: 14,99.- Euros!
