Walk on wood! Insight into the presentation of new SS2020 and AW2020 collections by Austrian wooden shoe label Woody at the company's store in Vienna

Today, the Carinthia-based wooden shoe label Woody (since 1922) invited to the company's new Viennese store at Lindengasse 2 at the 7th district for the launch of the sneaker line. Woody is known for flexible wooden soles. The larger sized men's models have three kautschuk bending zones, the women's sneakers (at the image right in the color combination nero-grigio) have two flexible elements. The main materials of the flexible Woody shoes - wood from willow, poplar and stone pin, were used also for the interior of the Woody store. The design was developed by the Vienna-based collective of architects, designers, curators Studio Calas.

The special sole was created by Gerhard Piroutz in the mid-1990s. Piroutz leads the family owned business in the third generation and initiated new designs developed from very traditional wooden shoes once worn in Austria by farmers and workers.

Through the decades, the shoe range of sandals, clogs was extended by special women's and men's collections such as classical alpine boots like the ones on view on this page (below) made of cow skin - a waste product from the meat industry - which applies an additional cowboy boot appeal to the shoes, or practical laced ankle boots as well as seasonal changing fashion items from the latest Woody women's Autumn/Winter 2020 collection; last mentioned will be available from September 2020.
