Austrian eyewear brand Neubau pays tribute to pioneers of ocean research Lotte & Hans Hass for World Oceans Day 2021

On occasion of World Oceans Day on 8 June, Austrian eyewear brand Neubau presents the model 'Lotte & Hans' paying tribute to the Austrian pioneers of ocean research, the biologist (research on sharks) and diver (used innovative rebreather equipment) Hans Hass and his wife Lotte who joined his expeditions and wrote the until today popular biography 'Ein Mädchen auf dem Meeresgrund' (means translated as much as 'A Girl on the Seafloor', published 1970 by Verlag Carl Ueberreuter, Vienna) about the couple's experiences. The biography was the basis for the biopic with the same name, which was released in 2011. Lotte and Hans Hass made the oceans their living and working environment.

Biology, especially biodiversity (means the variety of life on earth) and the economic role of the oceans are two of the main topics mentioned by the United Nations about this year's theme 'The Ocean: Life and Livelihoods' "...the ocean is key to our economy with an estimated 40 million people being employed by ocean-based industries by 2030." (cited from un.org/en/observances/oceans-day).
