Autumn 2021 preview: Three pieces (jacket, bag, shoes) made of recycled materials for the urban commuter

It seems as if climate change, caused by the earth's growing population with its production of waste, methane and CO2 emissions, has never before in the life of current generations affected the planet as strongly with rain and floods, heat and fires as it does now. When researchers spoke in the last months, weeks about climate, 'tipping points' became a central theme. Specialists can't definitely say when for example the tipping point of the Gulf Stream is reached, but after the findings of international studies we're already close to the point of no return and the beginning of a negative chain reaction. At the latest UN Climate Change 2021 report (https://www.un.org/en/climatechange/reports), calculations for the future (near-term until 2040, mid-term until 2060, long-term from 2081 until 2100) depending on various emission scenarios are published. The calls for action to governments, industries and each single person for implementing climate-responsible policies, production processes and behaviour into everyday life - even when it's only the question to choose a CO2 neutral vehicle or public transportation service when possible (not everyone can cycle or walk longer distances) - are getting louder these days.

Fashion.at selected three items from the latest press releases concerning products from recycled materials for an autumn 2021 urban commuter style tip with the protection of the environment in mind: A jacket made from Econyl yarn (nylon from discarded fishing nets and other industrial waste), sneakers from reused material (repurposed airbags and leftover from the garment production), and a bicycle bag (the front side of the pannier is made from 100% recycled products, the backside is made from German household garbage).

Images from left, clockwise: The 'Touring Jacket' in navy from the BOGNER x ECONYLŪ Capsule collection (available from Fall 2021) shows a classical outdoor design developed from the company's signature anorak created in the 1940s by Maria Bogner. Material: Fishing nets and other waste. Right: The sneakers 'Reebok x Kanghyuk Classic Leather' in red, unisex sizing were launched at the beginning of this month in a limited edition of 25 pairs, available exclusively since 6 August at Dover Street Market London. Sneakers' upper material: Airbags, leftover garment material. Below: The 'ReCycle Pro Single' bicycle bag by Vaude was developed with today's possibilities of a circular economy (details). The pannier will be available from October 2021. Material: Recycled products and household garbage.
