22 July 2021

Olympic Team Austria eyewear by J. Athletics presented by athletes like sailor and Olympic medal winner Tanja Frank who is one of the country's two flag bearers (woman + man) at the opening on 23 July in Tokyo

At the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, the flags at the opening ceremony will be carried in the most cases jointly by a male and female athlete from the national teams. The rules for flag bearers were changed for the realisation of more gender balanced Olympic Games. The IOC (International Olympic Committee) stated at a press release concerning gender equality "We encourage all National Olympic Committees to make use of this option."(Source: https://olympics.com/ioc/news/ioc-sends-extremely-strong-message-that-gender-balance-is-a-reality-at-the-olympic-games).
Tomorrow on 23 July 2021 on the occasion of the opening of the Olympic Summer Games Tokyo 2020, competitive sailors Tanja Frank and Thomas Zajac will walk as flag bearers in front of the delegation of Austrian athletes into the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo. (The order of tomorrow's parade with the names of the flag bearers can be found at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_Summer_Olympics_Parade_of_Nations.)
