8 June 2022 In the early 20th century when painter Gustav Klimt and fashion designer Emilie Flöge moved from hot Vienna during the summer months to the Attersee in the Salzkammergut, 'summer holidays' were named 'Sommerfrische' (Summer Freshness). For a good reason! The climate at the Attersee is comfortably warm in June, July, August and can be fresh in the later evening. Recently on 4 June, the Klimt-Foundation opened on occasion of 10 years Klimt Museum on lake Attersee the anniversary exhibition 'Ein Sommer wie damals' (A summer like back then) showing snapshots of Gustav Klimt (born 160 years ago in 1862) and Emilie Flöge including fashion creations of the designer. The style tip on view on this page for vacation in alpine lake regions is inspired by the Attersee.
The earrings are from the 'Nixe Aqua' series of the 'Hommage ā Gustav Klimt'-collection by jeweler Freywille. The mini-creoles' hand-painted enamel artwork is inspired by Klimt' s painting 'Water Serpents I' showing two water nymphs. For the 'Nixe Aqua' designs, the Freywille artists added light blue, turquoise-green and blue-violet to the typical Klimt spirals symbolizing water and life. |
