Insights into the Austrian jewelry and watch awards 'Schmuckstars' 2022: Launch of the online voting with diamond jewels and the presentation of an Olympic gold medalist as the awards' first ambassador
Yesterday on 15 June, the organizers of the 'Schmuckstars' invited to the new restaurant 'Dots' at the hotel 'The Leo Grand' near St Stephen's Cathedral at Bauernmarkt 1 in the first district of Vienna. Journalists and jewelry makers met for news about the fourth edition of the awards which have been handed out since 2019 every autumn. This year's gala night of watches and jewelry, the 'Schmuckstars – Galanacht der Uhren & Juwelen', will happen on 24 September. The 'Schmuckstars' (Jewelry Stars) awards were initiated by Christian Lerner for setting a spotlight on the works of artisans who create from precious materials like gold, silver, platinum and rubies, emeralds, or diamonds wearable treasures. The participating jewelers, watchmakers and retailers will appear in 12 categories at the website schmuckstars.com. The winners of the Schmuckstars are calculated from the rankings of the expert jury and the public voting. The first online voting of 2022 was launched yesterday in the category 'Das Schmuckstück des Jahres' (Jewel of the Year) with pieces created exclusively for the Schmuckstars awards. The Jewel of the Year 2022 is dedicated to diamonds as homage to the Diamant Club Wien which celebrates in 2022 its 100th anniversary. Voters can win two diamonds with 4c properties (carat, cut, color and clarity).
The presentations of the 'Jewelry Stars' - the name of the awards refers to the artisans as well as the award winning jewelry pieces - are followed each year by illustrious guests from the entertainment industry, fashion and media. For the first time ever, the Schmuckstars are represented by an ambassador whose name was made public on occasion of the press conference. Austrian snowboarder Anna Gasser, Olympic gold winner and longtime cooperation partner of Jacques Leman, is the jewelry and watch ambassador of Schmuckstars 2022. The athlete stands for the integration of fashion accessories made from high-quality workmanship and design into an active lifestyle.
