Carinthia X-Mas View: Santa Claus-inspired dress seen at the new store of Gina Drewes in Velden am Wörthersee

Austrian fashion designer Gina Drewes opened her new boutique with an adjoining fashion studio at Corso 25 in Velden am Wörthersee last week on November 24, 2023. The designer is known for reinterpretations of classic clothing pieces such as the Austrian traditional dress dirndl and streetwear as well as evening wear with an artful touch, as seen in the current range, the line 'Drewes X Shatalova' in collaboration with artist Darja Shatalova. The collection from this collaboration is named 'Fraktal #1' and features Darja Shatalova's overlaid text snippets, notes, numbers, brush strokes, and sketches that remember calculations. The artworks were printed on fabrics for items such as a bomber jacket, top, sweater, trousers and dress. Other pieces in the limited edition include a long and a short signal red quilted circle skirt.

Working with textiles is one of the signatures of Gina Drewes, who first learned her craft at the textile design college 'Spengergasse' and then at the fashion school 'Modeschule Hetzendorf' in Vienna. The fashion illustration (picture on Instagram) of the Santa Claus-inspired gown that is prominently placed at the entry of the store is used for the invitation to the pre-Christmas soft opening on December 8.
