Vienna Insight: Design label Glein presents 50/50 Jersey Collection made from 50% Lenzing Modal and 50% organic cotton

Even if some of Austria's most promising designers such as Florentina Leitner, Petar Petrov or Christina Seewald are currently represented in Paris, where the fashion week with new autumn/winter 2023/24 collections is in full swing, fashion does not stand still in Vienna.

Perhaps not as spectacular as the designer fashions in Paris, but the year-round basics that the Viennese design brand Glein recently launched are comfortable, sustainable and durable. The label is known for its purist design of fashion and furniture with strong dedication to sustainability. The new series of basics - sweaters, hoodies, t-shirts and sweatpants, are made from 50% Lenzing™ Modal and 50% organic cotton. The qualities of the fibers of the Austrian company Lenzing are especially pointed out in the press release such as the responsible use of water in the production process as well as the durability of the 50/50 modal/cotton mix.

For Glein, the process of designing starts with the selection of materials under the aspect of how the raw materials are obtained or grown. Production takes place in small series and in close personal partnership with 15 workshops located in Europe. The 50/50 Jersey Collection was created by Glein in cooperation with a spinning mill specialized in innovative natural fiber yarns. At the online shop, closer information about the materials and manufacturing is published such as that the Lenzing Modal fibers are from Austria, the organic cotton from Tanzania and that the spinning, knitting and sewing happen in Portugal.
