Gravity defying furniture by Vienna-based label mariedares at Blickfang Wien

This week, the Blickfang Wien design fair released a preview of this year's exhibitors from 12 nations that will be on display from 20 to 22 October, with a press information featuring a selection of brands from Germany, the Czech Republic, Croatia and Austria, such as mariedares from Vienna. Just in time for the release, the Blickfang team is keeping users up to date through the fair's social media channels such as Instagram, where posts are teasing more information, such as an interview with mariedares designer Marie-Theres Genser published on the Blickfang website. Architect Marie-Theres Genser studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and fuses furniture design with art and handcrafted production. In an interview on blickfang.com/2023/08/21/moebel-oder-kunst/, the designer talks about her sources of inspiration, which are rooted in her background as an architect and her preference for the statics of buildings. This explains why her objects seem like challenges to physical forces.
