Tyrol Insight: Shoemaker Ludwig Reiter and Alpine Resort Sacher created a new design that brings Alpine chic to the traditional forest worker and mountain farmer boot

The design of one of Ludwig Reiter's bestsellers, the warm winter boot called the Maronibrater, was inspired by a former forest worker's and mountain farmer's boot that found its way to the Austrian capital of Vienna through people from rural areas who sold their homemade goods and vegetables at the city's winter markets. In the 19th century, the Viennese began to call the chestnut roasters 'Maronibrater' (source: https://www.geschichtewiki.wien.gv.at/Maronibrater). Austrian shoemaker Ludwig Reiter transformed the Maronibrater's practical boot into a comfortable winter shoe that is now one of Austria's signature footwear designs, sold by the company worldwide. Ludwig Reiter collaborated already with designers like Helmut Lang or Peter Pilotto.
Now the shoemaker has launched a design created in collaboration with a hotel.

The Maronibrater boot's origins in the Austrian forests are being honored through the collaboration with the Alpin Resort Sacher in Seefeld, Tyrol. The bottle green and mocca brown design with champagne gold stitching reflects the Alpine chic of the five-star luxury hotel.
In the latest newsletter from Ludwig Reiter and on https://www.ludwig-reiter.com/de/sacher-alpin-resort-maronibrater-special-edition, CEO Till Reiter provides background information on how the collaboration began. It was on the occasion of the hotel's cultural music program 'Bergauf with Cultour' this summer, in which singers, musicians from the opera and concert stages met actors and artists at the Sacher in Seefeld. Elisabeth Gürtler, from the Sacher's owning family and since 2015 managing director of the alpine hotel (https://www.sacher.com/en/world-of-sacher/sacher-history/), proposed the concept of redesigning the classic Maronibrater in the style of the house. Till Reiter emphasized that, as well as her ability to combine modern international flair with traditional family charm in her Alpine Resort Sacher, she managed to add a touch of alpine chic to the traditional boots.
