How to watch the show of the Modeklasse 2024 of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the first under the direction of Craig Green after Grace Wales Bonner

Last year Fashion.at visited the show Modeklasse 2023 under the direction of Grace Wales Bonner, which dealt with topics like environment and capitalism (article). The runway presentation was one of the highlights of the fashion season in Vienna! This year's show will take place on June 6th. For those who cannot be present in the atrium of the University of Applied Arts, where the runway show will start at 8 pm, the Modeklasse 2024 show will be broadcast via livestream on dieangewandte.at.

Details of the collection themes or topics of the upcoming Modeklasse 2024 show were not revealed in the recent press release, but the first hints about the focus of the fashion class at the University of Applied Arts were given by its new professor Craig Green, who stated that his approach to leading the students is based on the belief that the future of human-led innovation lies not only in the acceptance of technology, but also in the understanding that truly original ideas come from physical craft and hands-on interaction with materials. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of educators to encourage creative thinking by equipping students with the necessary skills to find ideas and freely explore concepts.

This year's event, directed for the first time by British designer Craig Green, will showcase six diploma collections by graduating students: Martyna Bierut, Alissa Herbig, Yuliya Hlazun, Viola Kollar, Oliver Kuzma, and Pouran Parvizi. The show features a mix of designs from first-year students to graduate students. Two awards will be presented: the RONDO Fashion Prize, worth 5,000 euros and the publication of a fashion series, and the MALL Wien Mitte Award, worth 2,500 euros. In addition to the university's internal jury, the graduates will receive additional feedback by Simon Chilvers (freelance journalist and stylist, London), Lulu Kennedy (founder of Fashion East, London) and Serge Carreira (head of Emerging Brands Initiative at the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, Paris).
