Styles selected by Fashion.at for three Salzburger Festspiele productions from the range of the festival's official product partner Peek & Cloppenburg

This week, fashion retailer Peek & Cloppenburg presented some festive looks from its current range. The retail chain is the official product partner of the Salzburg Festival, which is Austria's annual cultural summer highlight. From July 19 to August 31, 2024, the festival will feature operas, theater plays, concerts and additionally a children's program with focus on opera.
Today, Fashion.at received more information about the partnership with the Salzburger Festspiele, which will center around the outfits of selected actors in Jedermann, the traditional play about the life and death of a rich man. The outfits have not been revealed yet. The only thing that is known is who will be wearing Peek & Cloppenburg on stage. The prominent role of the 'Buhlschaft' is one of them, as well as the visitors of the church, the party guests and the guests of the 'White Party'. Further details were not disclosed.

Fashion.at looked through this year's program, which draws parallels between the history of the creation of the play or opera and the challenges of today, as in the case of the opera 'The Gambler' by Sergei Prokofiev with a libretto based on the novel by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. The introduction on https://www.salzburgerfestspiele.at/en/p/the-gambler-2024 explains the history of the opera and director Peter Sellars' new interpretation. Sellars' 'The Gambler' at the Salzburg Festival underscores the courage it takes to face our darker sides and moral dilemmas. Just as Prokofiev and Dostoyevsky challenged societal norms and confronted hard truths, the introduction explains, today's society must similarly engage in self-reflection and confront its underlying contradictions. In this sense, The Gambler not only reflects historical struggles, but also serves as a mirror to our contemporary challenges, urging a deeper examination of our values and actions.
Style tip: For the opera at the Felsenreitschule, Fashion.at recommends a long dress with a touch of the 1920s and 30s, but with a contemporary twist as a reference to the history and the new interpretation of the opera.

Another production that caught the interest of Fashion.at is 'KI & Kunst', a performative discussion with an AI named Morpheus. On https://www.salzburgerfestspiele.at/en/p/ki-und-kunst-2024 it is announced that the discussion about the impact of AI on the art world will be discussed by IT and art experts. The AI Morpheus will later join the discussion and answer questions from the audience.
Style tip: For the discussion at the venue Szene Salzburg on August 15th - most likely a hot summer's day - Fashion.at recommends a comfortable blazer with matching trousers made of linen or a similar light material, combined with a t-shirt and relaxed sandals.

And the must-see production of the Salzburg Festival, Jedermann, comes in a fresh outfit this year - not only the pieces by Peek & Cloppenburg are new. The production celebrates its premiere with new leading actors, a new director, a new ensemble and a new costume designer (details at https://www.salzburgerfestspiele.at/en/p/jedermann-2024). We are looking forward to the outfit selection for the Buhlschaft!
Style tip: For Jedermann - originally a folk play, the reference to the traditional Austrian costume (tracht) is Fashion.at's favorite choice. It can be an original dirndl or a new interpretation of the tracht in the style of an elegant day dress.

Long dress with volants by Lauren Ralph Lauren; blazer with flap pockets model 'Nalut' in off-white and wide-legged linen pants model 'Malizia' in off-white, both by Weekend Max Mara; shirt dress with tie belt in pink by Milan Italy.
