Looking back and forward: Tennis player Dominic Thiem didn't get a wildcard for the Olympics, but he's taking his career to the next level with new eyewear models

Yesterday, the hopes of US Open 2020 winner Dominic Thiem to get a wildcard for the Austrian team at the Olympic Games Paris finally came to an end after the International Tennis Federation published the entry list. (The news was distributed yesterday via APA - Austrian Press Agency to the country's media such as https://www.derstandard.at/story/3000000227141/olympia-thiem-erhaelt-keine-wildcard-fuer-tennisturnier.) Coinciding with the sports news, Dominic Thiem presented two new models of his eyewear line 'Thiem View', which was launched last year in partnership with the Austrian optician chain Sehen!Wutscher. The project is run together with his brother and manager Moritz Thiem.

The tennis player's dream was to celebrate the end of his sporting career before retiring, but now it turns out that his activities on new paths, which he has already set his first steps, begin to outshine his wish. The two new models - Model 99, designed with round and square elements, and Model 24, with a geometric frame - are available in different colors, such as the green tones of 'Forest' or the soft brown tones of 'Desert'. The color names and materials, such as certified bio-acetate and recycled PET, were chosen to emphasize Thiem's commitment to nature. The numbers on each model tell a personal story about Dominic Thiem. While 99 is Thiem's favorite number, the number 24 is dedicated to the year 2024, when he will end his career as a tennis player and start a new one as an entrepreneur with the 'Thiem View' collection.
