Which young Austrian fashion designer recently had a show at Paris Fashion Week? The MAK will present the designer's work, such as the FW24/25 collection 'L'Autrichienne', at its summer palace from the beginning of May.

The designer presented in the third season of the '(Con)Temporary Fashion Showcase' by the MAK Museum of Applied Arts Vienna at the summer palace Geymüllerschlössel is Florentina Leitner, currently one of the most sought-after young Austrian fashion designers. Recently, her latest collection 'L'Autrichienne' Autumn/Winter 2024/25 was presented during Paris Fashion Week, where the Vienna-born, Antwerp, Belgium-based designer has been showing her collections since 2022.

As a promising new talent, Florentina Leitner has received several awards over the years and has been supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Public Service and Sport (BMKÖS) since 2020. Her talent was trained at the fashion school Hetzendorf in Vienna and during her studies with Walter Van Beirendonck at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. She later worked for Dries Van Noten. In 2021, Florentina Leitner launched her own fashion label. That's a brief summary of the designer's biography and the chronological basis of the exhibition, which will offer insights into Florentina Leitner's world of fantastical, floral, feminine and playful fashion, which spreads glitter by breaking up the usual looks.

The announcement mentions celebrities like Lady Gaga (Instagram) or Kylie Jenner (Instagram) who have already worn pieces and that the designer is inspired by art and movies like Sofia Coppola's biopic 'Marie Antoinette'. The Austrian archduchess and queen of France is the inspiration behind her latest collection, which will be shown alongside pieces from previous seasons at the MAK Geymüllerschlössel. The opening program on May 4 will include workshops, guided tours, and an opening ceremony with MAK Director Lilli Hollein and Florentina Leitner herself. Visitors can also indulge in mini-creations by cake artist Sophia Stolz referring to Leitner's latest collection 'L'Autrichienne', which is not the only reason why Fashion.at won't miss this opening.

The exhibition will be on view until November 3 - fast checked by Fashion.at today at MAK.at/contemporaryfashion, where updates on the program will be published in the coming months.
