'Wiener Moderne Forever' jewelry inspired by Gustav Klimt, Koloman Moser,... from the Dorotheum Juwelier design line presented for the Vienna Ball 2024 season

Dorotheum Juwelier, the jewelry division of the Dorotheum auction house, is known for its collection of privately owned vintage pieces as well as its own creations such as the 'Wiener Moderne Forever' line. For this line, the brand's jewelry designers were inspired by the art of painter Gustav Klimt, the work of designers and founders of the Wiener Werkstätte Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser, and the architecture of Otto Wagner. On the occasion of the new ball season, Dorotheum Juwelier has sent a few tips on how to choose a dress as well as a ball calendar with a selection of the upcoming elegant dance events that are part of the carnival season, which begins in January and lasts until Ash Wednesday, which this year falls on February 14th. The Dorotheum's selection of elegant events is similar to the curated list of Viennese balls published on https://www.wien.info/en/art-culture/music-stage-shows/dance/ball-season-340214. Some of the balls are already sold out (fast checked today by Fashion.at).

The tradition of Viennese balls dates back to the Congress of Vienna. Since then, each of the traditional balls, from the Kaffeehausball to the Opernball, has had strict dress codes. For women, this means a full-length ball gown; for men, a suit, tuxedo or even tailcoat. Generally, the specifics of the dress code are posted on the websites of the balls. The gown must be floor length and not white - this color is reserved for the ladies of the Young Women's Committee who open the ball. Other than that, there are usually no special requirements. Whether it is an opulent princess-style ball gown or a simple, figure-hugging evening dress is entirely up to the wearer's personal taste. According to Dorotheum Juwelier, this year's women's favorites include eye-catching, sparkling diamond jewelry, delicate jewelry sets in modern, minimalist designs, and jewelry with unusual colored stones. The jewelry trends range from magnificent diamond pieces to subtle and discreet options such as mini hoop earrings with baroque pearls. Colored gemstones, especially in the trendy 'peach fuzz' color, are predicted to be popular.
