On June 5, 2025 at 7:30 PM, the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Die Angewandte) will host its annual Show Modeklasse, showcasing the creative output of 34 fashion students — including the final diploma collections of five graduates. The event will take place at the Atrium of the university and will be accessible to a global audience via livestream on YouTube and Instagram (@dieangewandte, with ticketing information available via the link in the bio).

This year marks the second time the fashion show is presented under the artistic direction of British designer Craig Green, who assumed his professorship at the Angewandte in October 2023. Known for his conceptual and sculptural approach to menswear, Green has encouraged students to pursue "fearless" creation, continuing the department's legacy of fostering avant-garde innovation.

Programme Highlights and Awards

In addition to the presentation of student collections, the event includes the awarding of two prestigious prizes:

▪ The RONDO Fashion Award 2025 powered by Almdudler, which grants €5,000 and a fashion editorial feature in RONDO (Der Standard), will be presented to one of the graduating designers: Dian Adhami, David Hopp, Olivia Jochum, Julia Nagl, or Benedikt Salchegger.
▪ The WIEN MITTE The Mall Award, endowed with €2,500, will be awarded to one standout designer from the 2nd or 3rd year of study.

The five graduates' collections will be assessed not only by the internal university jury but also by an international panel of fashion experts. This year's guest jury includes:

▪ Serge Carreira, head of the Emerging Brands Initiative of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, Paris
▪ Tuomas Laitinen, founder and fashion director of SSAW Magazine and creative director at Parsons Paris
▪ Jack Moss, fashion editor at Wallpaper, London
▪ Torishéju Dumi, designer and founder of the label Torishéju

Last Year's Show Still Available Online

For those interested in a preview, the 2024 edition of the Show Modeklasse can still be watched on YouTube (video). However, viewers should note that the recording does not include the awards ceremony or the introduction of the show by the host and director, which was interrupted by a political statement (article).

A Legacy of High-Profile Leadership

The Fashion Department at the Angewandte has long been shaped by leading figures in international design. Since the early 1980s, its direction has been held by some of the most prominent names in the fashion world, each influencing generations of students. These have included, to name a few:

▪ Karl Lagerfeld (1980–1983)
▪ Raf Simons (2000–2005)
▪ Hussein Chalayan (2014–2019)
▪ Grace Wales Bonner (2020–2023)

Following Wales Bonner, Craig Green took over in 2023. A graduate of Central Saint Martins and three-time winner of the British Menswear Designer Award, Green brings a unique vision that blends craftsmanship with a conceptual approach to functional clothing, reworking the foundations of contemporary wear — a direction that will likely influence the next generation of designers. How this plays out will be seen on June 5.
