30 April 2026 ![]() Collective Presence in MilanAccording to a press release by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (Wirtschaftskammer Österreich, WKÖ), Austria presented its design sector at the Milan Design Week from 20 to 26 April 2026. The exhibition took place at Palazzo Confalonieri in Milan's Brera Design District and was organized by Außenwirtschaft Austria. More than 30 Austrian companies participated in the curated group exhibition "Design Palazzo Austria," which formed part of the official program. Around 28,000 visitors attended the Austrian presentation within the wider Milan Design Week, one of the largest global events for design and furniture.Platform for Industry and ExchangeThe WKÖ emphasized that the joint presentation aims to strengthen international visibility and foster cooperation. Italy remains a key export market for Austrian design, particularly in furniture and interior solutions. The exhibition combined established manufacturers with emerging studios, focusing on durable and resource-conscious design. The scenography was developed by the Vienna-based studio Vasku & Klug.The exhibition brought together a broad range of Austrian design disciplines: • ADAMGEORG – interdisciplinary studio working with ceramics, industrial products and mycelium-based materials • Augarten Wien – historic porcelain manufactory producing handcrafted tableware and figurines • Austriawood – high-end wooden interiors, flooring and wall systems • Bene – office furniture systems and flexible workspace solutions • BRAUN Lockenhaus – seating and tables in bentwood, solid wood and steel • Conform Badmöbel – modular bathroom furniture • Feinedinge – handcrafted porcelain tableware and objects • FH Salzburg – design and green engineering research, especially furniture and industrial design • GWID (Georg Wanker Industrial Design) – strategic industrial and product design • HMYD (Harry Miesbauer Yacht Design) – yacht and mobility design • Humainprojects – inclusive and research-driven product design • ICHIGO.Vienna – glassware and lifestyle products inspired by Japanese aesthetics • Irene Maria Ganser – ceramic and material-based design • J. & L. Lobmeyr – traditional glassware and lighting design • JOKA – seating and upholstered furniture • Kohlmaier – furniture manufacturing and interior solutions • Lang Outdoor Küchen – outdoor kitchen systems • LAUFEN Austria – bathroom ceramics and sanitary solutions • Lavazza – coffee systems, included through design-related collaborations • Lights of Vienna – contemporary lighting design • LILGENAU – furniture and interior concepts • Mayr-Schulmöbel – educational furniture • miramondo – outdoor and public space furniture • Prödl – metal furniture and design objects • PROLICHT – architectural lighting solutions • SILHOUETTE – premium eyewear design • Studio Palatin – product and spatial design • Studio Khodai – experimental and collectible design objects • TEAM 7 – natural wood furniture for living spaces • Thomas Feichtner – industrial and product design • TREWIT – wood processing and components for furniture and interior design • VELLO Bike – folding bicycles for urban mobility • Vera Grillmaier – material-driven experimental design • Wiesner-Hager – office and contract furniture • ZAVADSKI – lighting design Economic ContextThe WKÖ highlighted the importance of Milan as a networking hub for the international design industry.
