Tchibo about the usage of the app against food waste 'Too Good To Go' in Austria

Yesterday, the coffee and lifestyle goods store chain Tchibo sent a short impact report about the partnership with the app against food waste 'Too Good To Go' which started in 2015 in Copenhagen, Denmark and is active nowadays with around 116.000 food businesses in 17 countries in Europe and North America; since 2019 in Austria; in the US since two years. Recently in September, Too Good To Go was officially launched in Los Angeles (source: prnewswire.com).

In a LinkedIn post two months ago, Country Manager Georg Strasser resumed the positive development of the app in Austria with around 5.000 partner companies and more than 1,2 million users. The number of businesses is steadily growing. Several weeks ago, the supermarket chain Billa added the company's 1.300 Billa and Billa Plus stores throughout Austria to the app. Since August 2022 after a pilot phase, Tchibo's 110 stores in Austria are part of the movement against food waste. The app is equipped with a practical map where food businesses which offer unsold food in surprise packages are shown in an individually after kilometers adjustable area. The prices of the bags or boxes in general change with the stores, restaurants, hotels, bakeries or producers. At Tchibo in Austria for example the surprise box contains pastries worth at least 12.- Euros for 3,99.- Euros.

According to Tchibo's latest media release about the impact of the Too Good To Go partnership, the more than 150 surprise boxes sold per day have saved 20 tons of CO2 so far.
