Vienna Celebrates Craft and Cuisine at a Kitchen Textile Launch

A kitchen as a stage

A working kitchen in the heart of Vienna became the setting for a media-focused product presentation in February 2026. In the Schnitzel Academy of Figlmüller, journalists, guests and invited observers gathered around stainless-steel worktops, flour-dusted plates and stacks of kitchen linen. The occasion was the presentation of the very first kitchen textile collection by the Austrian textile manufacturer Vossen. Instead of a classic showroom or gallery, the brand chose a place where textiles are used, tested and sometimes stained within minutes. The setting underlined a hands-on approach and reflected how product launches in Vienna are often linked to food, conversation and shared experience.

From bath to kitchen

Vossen is best known for terry towels and bathrobes, products that are found in private homes as well as in hotels and spas. Over the decades, the company has regularly expanded its range, working with designers and developing theme-based collections. What started with bath textiles grew into spa lines with robes and lounge wear. With the new kitchen textile line, the portfolio now moves into another everyday space. According to the company, this step responds to a growing interest in high-quality household textiles beyond the bathroom. The collection will be available from March 2026.

Figlmüller and the Schnitzel Academy

For many visitors, Figlmüller stands for Vienna itself. The restaurant group is internationally known for its large, thin schnitzels and is often on the bucket list of tourists visiting the city. Reservations are usually essential, as walk-in tables are rare. Beyond the restaurant business, Figlmüller also runs the Schnitzel Academy, a teaching kitchen where participants learn how to prepare Wiener Schnitzel step by step. Courses last several hours and include tastings, practical instruction, and a small goodie bag with a recipe book and apron. Vossen chose this location to introduce its collection in a context that connects craftsmanship, tradition and daily kitchen work.

Testing materials in real use

The guest list reflected the media character of the event. Attendees came from television, food blogging, football, cabaret and modeling, creating a mix of cultural and lifestyle perspectives. During the session, the textiles were used while cooking and serving classic Austrian dishes. The collection includes aprons, kitchen towels, pot holders and oven gloves. Materials range from smooth-woven cotton with high absorbency to silicone-coated surfaces designed for better grip and heat resistance.

For Figlmüller head chef Markus Brunner, who works with professional equipment every day, practical testing was central. He compared a reliable kitchen towel to a sharp knife: both are constantly in use, whether for polishing, drying, handling hot cookware or serving. When material quality and feel are right, he noted, everyday kitchen routines become noticeably easier and more enjoyable.

As the event came to an end, food and textiles shared equal attention. And for anyone who suddenly feels a craving for schnitzel: when in Vienna, booking a table in advance is strongly advised. For those who prefer to learn first, the Schnitzel Academy offers the chance to practice the classic dish themselves before sitting down to eat it.
