Preview blickfang Vienna (26 - 28 October): Lamps made of alps hay from Tirol, Austria and an art-fashion project focusing on cultural roots and politics in Turkey
Recently, the traveling furniture, fashion, jewelry fair and shopping event blickfang Vienna presented previews of what will be on show from 26 to 28 October at MAK Museum in Vienna. One of the - literally - highlights of the among around 150 exhibitors is the Austrian furniture brand 'Almut' with lamps made of alps hay from the mountains of Tirol. Almut interprets traditional regional materials (hay mixed with rose petals or cornflowers for example for a table lamp - picture below) and forms (like the classical three-leg stand made of beech wood) as modern design objects.
Another label at the preview is the Italian fashion-art project 'Rruna' which approaches design from cultural and political points of view. The founders of Rruna, Virginia Colonna and Martina Fortuni, collaborated for the latest project 'Cross The Line' with artist Gözde Ilkin whose prints (on silk) and embroidery-stitchings reference cultural roots and current politics in Turkey.
