Textile artist Beate von Harten's interactive 'Create & Connect: The Chameleon Carpet' nominated for 'Carpet Design Award 2019', presented at Domotex in Hannover

Vienna-based Beate von Harten is active in textile design, restoration, conservation, and art. Her latest art work 'Create & Connect: The Chameleon Carpet' is a reflection on our multifaceted world and that the look of our earth depends on people's interactivity. The 15 parts of the 160x240 centimeter carpet represent with various colors, techniques, sizes, patterns the diversity of the landscapes of earth's continents and islands. According to the calculation by the artist, the items can be knotted individually together in hundreds of variations; both sides of the three 80x80 cm and twelve 40x40cm pieces can be used.

'Create & Connect: The Chameleon Carpet' is inspired by the 'Carpet Design Award 2019' motto 'Create'N'Connect' with focus on connectivity concerning today's communication, people's living and working circumstances. The carpet is nominated as finalist in the Carpet Design Awards category 'Best Studio Artist Design' and will be exhibited from 11 to 14 January at the trend fair for flooring and interior design Domotex in Hannover, Germany. The winners from eight categories will be announced on 12 January at Domotex.
