Wien Museum continues during lockdown its work with digital initiatives: The Magazine with stories from behind the scenes and the Online Collection with the presentation of paintings, fashion,...

The night of the 2nd to 3rd November 2020 will be marked red in Austria's history. Last night, not only the second lockdown with severe restrictions became effective; last night, a terror attack caused a war-like scenario with shootings, deaths and many injured. Today, Viennese citizens are advised to stay at home. The persecution of possible members of the terror group is ongoing.

So let's take a look at the activities of culture institutions such as museums or theatres which have to close their doors for the public due to the new Covid-19 regulations until the end of the month. On 2nd November, many Austrian museums posted the announcement of the closure of the exhibition spaces for the public from today the 3rd. But this doesn't mean that for example museums will be inactive. The 'Wien Museum' group with locations like the MUSA or the Beethoven Museum (picture right) presented two initiatives to ensure the cultural supply of the population through digital formats. The Wien Museum curators and specialists will continue to communicate their research findings through the 'Wien Museum Magazin' (free of charge), which was started already one year ago and counts today around 150 articles with views behind the scenes, additional information about exhibitions and stories of selected objects, as well as through the new project 'Wien Museum Online Collection' with more than 45,000 objects from photographies over graphics to fashion. The Online Collection is announced to go live on 12 November.
