Vienna Design Week presented new director, program pillars and logo of this year's 'Brigittenau' edition

Every year since 2007, Vienna Design Week focuses on one of the districts of the city for new perspectives on well-known as well as hidden places and explorations of creative hot spots, manufactories and design studios. This year, it's the 20th district called 'Brigittenau' where the festival headquarters will reside. Recently, the program pillars like Education, Urban Food & Design, Talks, Passionswege,... of the next design week happening from 24 September until 3 Oktober were presented at a press conference by the new director Gabriel Roland. Roland was introduced by former director and Vienna Design Week co-founder Lilli Hollein (appointed director of the MAK - Museum of Applied Arts, article).

Right: This year's festival graphics by Bueronardin present the district's coat of arms in a new interpretation with focus on the area's bridges over the Danube. The stars are standing in the Brigittenau coat of arms, which reflect with an anchor the location between the shipping lanes Danube and the side arm Donaukanal, originally for the halo of Johannes Nepomuk, the patron saint of bridges and protector from floods. The logo was released together with the press information with the title 'Bridges not borders'.
