Wien Museum exhibition of Viennese street art presents views by Friend & Linda Steiner on the future of 'Urban Natures' centering on city planning and the public access to green spaces throughout the city

From today until 12 September, the 2nd part of the street art 'Urban Natures' exhibition centering on city planning and the population's unproblematic public access to green spaces in Vienna is on show at the fence around Wien Museum Karlsplatz which is currently under reconstruction. As the museum can't organise exhibitions inside the building, the museum curators have relocated city-related art shows during the last months to the construction fence.

The latest exhibition 'Urban Natures' started already with the 1st part on 10 June 2021 and was on show with street art by El Jerrino, Sckre and Video Oner until 25 July. Today, the 2nd part is officially 'open air' with art by Friend whose mural art makes think of encoded ornamental writings and Linda Steiner whose street art is strongly connected to critical feminist art showing female figures which might remind viewers in the setting of the exhibition 'Urban Natures' and the topic 'city planning' for more green spaces of artist Niki de Saint Phalle's work who became famous for her Nana-sculptures placed at 'The Tarot Garden', originally inspired by the architecture of Antoni Gaudi for the public garden Park Güell.

Many Viennese when walking or cycling at the Donaukanal strolled already along Linda Steiner's 'My only cage is your opinion' which questions social pressure through the definition of norms and can be understood as a call for individuality. The mural is signed with 'Linda' of the RIP OFF CREW, a group of women consisting of Mariella Lehner, Käthe Löffelmann and Linda Steiner. At lindasteiner.at/bio/, the artist (painting, illustration, print,... creation of artworks for t-shirts, bags,...) publishes her biography with video showing her at work.
