Art project 'Dessous' part of the Bling Bling Pop Up Space by Parallel Vienna with pieces like a kimono with an art print by Gert Resinger and modified beer cans by Taro Meissner

This week, on December 7th, the Bling Bling. Contemporary Pop Up Space of the contemporary art fair 'Parallel Vienna' opened at Kärntner Straße 39 in the former space of a fashion store. In front of the space, a mannequin dressed in a t-shirt with a photo print and a handwritten note taped to the model's arm announced the opening and that the art space would run until December 23. Fashion.at was invited to the art space, one of Vienna's edgier venues, where internationally renowned artists such as Brigitte Kowanz, Erwin Wurm, Gelatin or Hermann Nitsch are exhibited alongside new artists from the Viennese scene such as the group around the art project 'Dessous'.

On that day, the price lists with pictures of the artworks, names of the artists and prices were on the wrong floors, so Fashion.at had to search for the price lists on two floors - up and down stairs and up and down stairs. The information about one particular artwork, which looked like a sales stand with objects that appeared like packages of nuts or chips, but with the logos of well-known beer brands, couldn't be found after a quick check of the lists. Since it was presented in the Dessous area, Fashion.at asked Gert Resinger, co-founder of the art project Dessous, for more details about the work. Founded in 2014 by artist Anny Wass and Gert Resinger, Dessous runs an exhibition and production space for several artists in Vienna and organizes exhibitions and participations, such as the partnership with the pop-up space Parallel Vienna. Fashion.at's central impression of the Dessous space can be summarized as a play with the connotations of everyday objects and the world of brands.
Visitors are likely to experience it as a refreshing new take on contemporary lifestyles and popular products. Artist Taro Meissner's modified beer cans look like sacks filled with nuts and raisins, and may increase the desire to eat nuts instead of drinking beer (photos on Instagram). Gert Resinger exhibited a kimono with the word 'Nein' (No) printed all over it; when asked why he applied the word to the black kimono, Gert Resinger told Fashion.at that 'Nein' does not refer to a specific issue. The writing of 'Nein' on the kimono appears from a distance like squiggly lines, which may remind some of an electrocardiogram and its waves resembling heartbeats. Every no for every single heartbreak caused by the things that go wrong in our world? But it's up to the viewers to get their own inspirations of the artworks presented at the pop up space! More information about Dessous is published on https://thedessous.com/.
