Blickfang Wien Design Prize in the category Fashion and Jewelry Design went to Berlin-based Lotre Studio for the label's sustainable knitwear production

Last weekend, from 20 to 22 October, the design fair BLICKFANG Wien took place at the MAK Museum for Applied Arts in Vienna. The 20th anniversary edition with around 150 furniture, fashion and jewelry labels on 3,500 square meters of exhibition space attracted around 11,500 visitors. For 20 years, Blickfang's mission has been to highlight exceptionally designed and sustainably produced products from small, independent labels.

The event is also known for awarding prizes in various categories. In Vienna, the jury included Markus Jehs of the design duo jehs + laub, Anne-Marie Rossberg, curator of the MAK Collection, and fashion designer Petar Petrov. They awarded the Fashion and Jewelry Design Award to Lotre Studio for its sustainable knitwear production. Luisa Lauber and Felix Eschmann's Lotre Studio produces sustainable, zero-waste knitwear from natural fibers 'on demand' and locally in Berlin. Any residue is recycled and there is no waste left over from cutting and packaging. This is made possible by Fully Fashioned knitting technology that completely eliminates yarn waste during the manufacturing process. All parts of the garment are knitted directly into the final shape, eliminating the need for cutting. For these aspects of sustainability, the jury awarded the Berlin-based label the prize in the Fashion and Jewelry category. With the information about the winners of the Blickfang Wien 2023, the dates for Blickfang Wien 2024 were announced. Next year's Blickfang will take place from 8 to 10 November 2024 at the MAK.
