Fashion.at event tip in Vienna: Opening of 'Winter at MQ' with light projections by the award-winning artist starsky, known for addressing social issues, and music by legendary Austrian DJ Electric Indigo

Fashion at has received an invitation to the opening of this year's 'Winter at MQ', which will take place from 8 November to 23 December, with the light installation 'Winter of Love' by starsky aka Mag.a Julia Zdarsky. Julia Zdarsky studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and has received recognition and awards over the years for her work such as large-screen projections, which convey socio-critical views from a feminist perspective on our society and the burning issues of our time.

The annual winter meeting in the Museumsquartier, one of the largest cultural areas in Europe with several museums and project spaces, will also offer winter gastronomy with punch and snacks. Guests at the opening will experience a premiere: starsky's live projection of 'Winter of Love' with the participation of legendary DJ Electric Indigo - the electronic music producer is one of the first women in Austria to work the turntables in the 1980s - and performers Aiko Kazuko Kurosaki, Anna Rita Cedroni and Nenosun.

In the press release, the MQ provides closer information about the artwork, such as that 'Winter of Love' is starsky's latest large-scale projection, displaying daily messages of hope and confidence above the MQ's main entrance while addressing current social issues. The artist's work aims to create ephemeral, thought-provoking moments using temporary light architecture and projection interventions to engage and inspire the public.

The projections encourage independent thinking, open dialog and the pursuit of an open society. The overall setting and design of the winter event at the MQ was curated by Robert Rüf, who introduces new tree islands for the winter season. Traditional activities such as curling and miniature car racing will also be part of the program, along with events such as the artist talk with starsky on 22 November. The detailed program is published on https://www.mqw.at/en/winter-2023.
