Nine years of street art produced during Calle Libre - Festival for Urban Aesthetics in Vienna included in Google Arts & Culture online exhibitions

The 'Calle Libre' festival for urban aesthetics is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Every year, street artists from all over the world present their works on murals in especially chosen districts of Vienna. This year, Calle Libre will run over 10 days from 27 July until 5 August at various destinations in the 16th district under the title 'Diez - Years of Transformation'. The highlight of the festival every year are the live paintings, which according to the program on callelibre.at will start on the 5th day, 31 July. The program includes details about the participating artists and their locations, as well as the information about when and where tours or workshops will happen. Among the artists from all over the world are also artists from Vienna like Frau Isa, who illustrated for example the shopping guide 'Guided Vienna' or created the motif of a large wall for Ikea, or Lio Ebenstein, who will hold one of the workshops. The artist and pedagogue will provide background knowledge and techniques for the creation of "unique street art that engages with the theme of transformation" as announced on callelibre.at/program/day3.
On day 1, the opening event of the festival will take place at the AG18 Gallery in Vienna's Annagasse. The exhibition under the title 'VI(E)-SÃO' is a collaboration with the Brazilian art gallery Choque Cultural.

A few days before the festival begins, street art produced in Vienna over the years was added to Google Arts & Culture. The artists from the nine years are showcased with background information. In the press release, Jakob Kattner, the festival's founder, expresses his delight at having the festival's colorful artworks accessible to a wider art-interested audience online, preserving them for eternity on the World Wide Web. Simon Rein, Program Manager for Google Arts & Culture DACH, is pleased to make the Calle Libre Collection available to a broader audience, celebrating the festival's artistic diversity and its evolution into a cultural landmark of creative Vienna.
