Tip to escape the 30° Celsius on the streets of Vienna: Visit the 'Viva Frida Kahlo' exhibition in hall-sized rooms with 23° to 24° Celsius

It's hot in the city. 30° Celsius and rising! One of the activities that can be recommended is to visit exhibitions, such as the immersive art experience 'Viva Frida Kahlo' at the Marx Halle. The rooms in which the paintings by the Mexican artist are presented in large format have an average temperature of 23° to 24° Celsius, Fashion.at was told on the phone today. The popular show in Vienna opened at the end of April 2023 and has already sold around 40,000 tickets. Due to the high demand, the Vienna show has been extended until 27 August, 2023.

Frida Kahlo's source of artistic inspiration is Mexican folklore, with its world of colors and elements of nature. The traditional Mexican Tehuana costume became the trademark of Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) as a symbol of her fight for women's rights and the rights of indigenous people. The folkloric costume was an expression of anti-colonialism. The artist and political activist has been portrayed in several films, including the 2002 Hollywood film adaptation of her life starring Salma Hayek.

The exhibition highlights Kahlo's life, her struggles, and her role as an icon of the women's movement. The immersive experience combines modern technology with art. The 360-degree experience takes visitors to Mexico, to 'Casa Azul' in Coyoacán, where Frida Kahlo, confined to her bed after a serious accident, begins to paint. Kahlo's paintings are projected in large format onto walls up to 24 meters long and 5.5 meters high, as well as onto the floor of the exhibition hall. A narrator in the role of the artist guides the audience through the world of the emancipated painter. A specially composed soundtrack accompanies the performance.
