Fashion.at travel tip: Visit of the Parallel Sculpture Park in Gmunden with a boat trip on the Traunsee

The Salzkammergut region has been a destination for Fashion.at several times in recent years, such as in 2021 to explore Gmunden (article), or more recently to visit this year's projects on the occasion of the region's selection as European Capital of Culture 2024, such as an art installation with dresses at the Concentration Camp Memorial in Ebensee (article).

This week Fashion.at received closer details about the summer special of the art fair Parallel Vienna in Upper Austria, the Parallel Sculpture Park 2024, which will take place from June 28th to the end of August 2024 in Toscana Park in Gmunden. It's the third time that Parallel Vienna, known for its art fairs at various locations in Vienna since 2013, is organizing the Skulpturenpark. The location Toscana Park seems to become a 'lieu fixe' of Parallel.

Tthe Parallel Sculpture Garden 2024 will feature works by a diverse group of artists, including Christian Eisenberger, Xenia Hausner, Eva Petric, Martin Grandits, and many others. It's expected that the park will be visited by up to 10,000 people during the summer. Insights into the artists' works presented in 2023 are published on https://parallelvienna.com/skulpturenpark2023/.

The park's grand opening will take place on June 28th, with an all-day event featuring speeches by local dignitaries and a chance to meet artists and exhibitors. The Skulpturenpark is part of the Salzkammergut Festival Weeks. It's already possible to book guided tours on the festival's website on https://www.festwochen-gmunden.at. One day after the opening of the park, the outdoor photo festival 'Gmunden Photo' will start under this year's title 'Terrible Beauty' on the subject of landscapes and the endangered environment.
