Gold, Silver, Bronze winning graphic design and illustration of the past years presented by the International Joseph Binder Award. The new call for submissions from all over the world started today.

Austria does not have many international competitions. The Joseph Binder Award, named after the Austrian graphic designer who was born in Vienna and worked in the United States, is one of the exceptions. It has been organized by designaustria every two years since 1996. Today, the call for entries for the 17th edition, the Joseph Binder Award (JBA) 2024, was made public. Designers, illustrators, agencies and students from all over the world are invited to submit work created between 2022 and 2024. The website https://www.josephbinderaward.com/ is the best 'calling card' for the award. With a clear navigation, the user can easily find the most important information, such as that early bird submissions are available at reduced rates until September 22, 2024, or that the final deadline is October 31, 2024. Under the menu item 'Archive' designaustria provides insights into the 'Winners' of the years 2022 and 2020 as well as under the sub-navigation 'Entrants' views of all submitted works with a more detailed description. For example, the description of the project 'Perfumers' Compendium', which won Gold in the category 'Editorial Design' in 2022, is published under Archive, Entrants powered by the award management platform on https://jba22.submit.to/browse/categories/5040/entries/104999. The 'Submit Now!' link in the navigation menu leads to the registration via the Vienna headquartered competition management platform https://jba24.submit.to/.

The names of the jury members with the field of expertise such as 'Digital Design' or 'Editorial Design' are published together with the country of origin. Unfortunately, there's no biographical information about the international jury (fast checked by Fashion.at today). They will judge entries in fifteen categories, and the winners will be announced in March 2025. The 2024 winners will receive trophies, cash prizes - the special 'Design Fiction' category offers cash prizes totaling €10,000 - and have their work included in a catalog and exhibitions. The awards ceremony, catalogue launch, and exhibition opening will take place in March 2025 at the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna, where the exhibition will be on display at designforum for some weeks before being shown in several European cities.
