24 July 2024 Every year, the Austrian Wind Energy Interest Group (IG Windkraft) photo competitions are a highlight for those interested in exploring the environment, flora and fauna, people's lives and the aesthetics of wind power in the landscape. The fourth wind power photo contest is organized by IG Windkraft and Austria's largest energy supplier Wien Energie. It was launched with a campaign around Global Wind Day on June 15th, including a website at https://www.tagdeswindes.at where entries can be uploaded until September 30th, 2024. The competition's theme, 'Life in a Wind Farm,' highlights the aesthetic, cultural and social significance of wind power in the landscape, with a focus on how people live and work around wind turbines. Both amateur and professional photographers are encouraged to participate by submitting their wind power photos in one of seven categories, ranging from nature shots to creative perspectives on wind power in work and leisure. The goal is to showcase wind turbines as an integral part of the cultural landscape and as a habitat for local flora and fauna. It's announced that an expert jury will evaluate the entries in October. The jury includes representatives from the Austrian Association of Visual Artists, Wien Energie, Canon Austria, FOTOobjektiv, the Austrian Association of Photography (ÖVF) and IG Windkraft. The winners will be announced at a vernissage, where prizes such as 3 e-bikes from Wien Energie, a Canon EOS R50 Content Creator Kit from Canon Austria and more will be awarded. IG Windkraft also organizes several events, such as the photo workshop 'Wind and Wheels: Image Design in the Wind Farm' on Monday, August 12. This event will be conducted by CREATIV FOTO Heiligenkreuz and will provide participants with practical insights into taking wind power pictures. The event schedule (currently until October) can be found under 'Windfest Termine' at tagdeswindes.at.
