Time for Fashion: Art, Design, and Encounters Across Austria This Season

Fashion Journeys Through Austria – Summer 2025 Events That Celebrate More Than Just Clothing
Fashion is not merely about garments. It's about encounters, inspiration, collaboration—and ultimately, movement. Fashion lives through the people who wear it, create it, and share it. It unfolds where artists from different disciplines meet, where design becomes dialogue, and where an outfit is just the beginning of a larger story. Fashion, in its broadest sense, is a reason to travel. Today, Fashion.at looked at the calendar in search of such reasons—occasions to set out on the road and celebrate fashion as a social and artistic event. Here's what we found—and how to get there.

Stop 1: PERSPEKTIVEN Attersee (12 July – 3 August 2025)

📍 Attersee am Attersee
🚆 Accessible from Vienna by train in approximately 3 hours

The art and culture festival Perspektiven Attersee kicks off tomorrow, July 12, and runs through August 3. Set around the picturesque lake Attersee, this year's edition is dedicated to the theme "Dystopia and Utopia"—a reflective exploration of collapse and renewal. With immersive installations, overnight art experiences, performances, film screenings, discussions, and shared meals, the festival encourages creative exchange across all disciplines. Fashion is present in the form of the Mode Kiosk, which features Austrian labels in weekly rotation. This year's featured designers include:

•meshit – the Vienna-based label by Lena Krampf and Ida Steixner blends classic cuts with subcultural and humorous twists.
•Eva Blut – known for her architectural bags and accessories that combine form and function
•Margaret & Hermione – pioneers in sustainable swimwear made from recycled ocean plastic
•rosa mosa – designers who mix traditional Austrian craftsmanship with global influences for footwear and accessories

Their presence confirms that fashion at Attersee is not a side note but an integral part of a cultural ecosystem that thrives on experimentation and shared space.

Stop 2: BLITZLADEN Pop-up Store in Salzburg (25 July – 10 August 2025)

📍 Kapitelgasse 9, 5020 Salzburg
🚆 Direct train from Vienna to Salzburg, approximately 3 hours

From July 25 to August 10, Salzburg becomes a destination for lovers of contemporary Austrian fashion. Three Viennese labels—Ferrari Zöchling, Jana Wieland, and Rudolf—are joining forces to open a temporary concept store in the heart of the city. With their clear design language and dedication to small-scale, quality production, the labels offer not only clothing but a statement: fashion as a slow, intentional process. The store promises more than a retail experience—it's a space where the creative minds behind the brands meet their audience, and where the conversation between maker and wearer continues.

•Ferrari Zöchling brings narrative-driven collections that often draw on collaborations with artists
•Jana Wieland is known for effortless elegance, often using flowing cuts and natural materials
•Rudolf emphasizes clean lines and subtle color palettes, guided by a minimalist aesthetic

Stop 3: VIENNA FASHION WEEK.25 (15 – 20 September 2025)

📍 Hallen E + G, MuseumsQuartier Vienna
🎟️ Tickets: viennafashionweek.com/tickets/

Before the summer season winds down — with autumn officially beginning on September 22 — Vienna will once again become the center of fashion in Austria. From September 15 to 20, the 17th edition of Vienna Fashion Week will feature national and international designers at Hallen E + G in the MuseumsQuartier, a historic venue that combines Vienna's charm with state-of-the-art infrastructure. While the full programme is not yet published, Fashion.at was told in a phone call today that details are expected by the end of July. Until then, the recently revealed campaign image already offers a glimpse of what's to come. Styled by Nicolas Dudek and featuring designs by KAMEN, MILK, Nicolas Dudek, pitour, and TrueYou, the campaign emphasizes local talent and collaborative spirit. This year's Fashion Week will not be held in the traditional tent but indoors—providing a new atmosphere for one of the most important fashion gatherings in the capital.

Because fashion is not just clothing—it's connection. It's the joy of rediscovery, whether you're returning to old friends or making new ones. It's being inspired by the backdrop—be it the shimmering Attersee, the historic streets of Salzburg, or the buzzing energy of Vienna. Fashion is more than clothing—it's a timely invitation to connect, explore, and embark on a journey across Austria's vibrant creative scenes.
